Stop Blood Diamonds is an initiative to help people become more aware of the horrifying circumstances surrounding blood diamonds. We recognize that even though measures and sanctions have been laid down by the international community, the blood diamond trade has not been totally eradicated. We also realize that this is partially due to the fact that not enough people are aware of the situation. It is true that admirable steps have been taken towards the eradication of this despicable trade. However, the sad fact remains that people are still dying and suffering in certain African countries.
Realizing this, we at Stop Blood Diamonds want to do our part in the campaign against this inhumane practice. We believe that information is power and that is what we want to impart to the world. Our target audience includes both consumers and members of the diamond industry.
We want to impart the stark truths of what is involved in the blood diamond trade. We want the world to know that people are suffering and dying for the much coveted diamonds. We want everyone to know that it is in their power to put a stop to this and thus save lives.
For consumers, we aim to provide information so as to empower you to be discriminate buyers. For jewelers and diamond retailers, we aim to help you with your diamond purchasing policies as well as to assist you in promoting clean diamonds. Working hand in hand, we can all take small but sure steps towards making the world a better place to live in.
